How to Install WordPress in cPanel: A Step-by-Step Guide.

1. Log in to cPanel:

  • Open your browser and navigate to your cPanel login page (usually http://yourdomain.com/cpanel or http://yourdomain.com:2083).
  • Enter your cPanel username and password.

2. Locate the “Softaculous Apps Installer” or “WordPress” in cPanel:

  • Once logged in, scroll down to the “Software” section.
  • Look for “Softaculous Apps Installer” or WordPress (this can be listed separately or within Softaculous).

If your cPanel has the Softaculous installer, it will make the process much easier.

3. Start the WordPress Installation:

  • Click on WordPress (under the Softaculous Apps Installer).
  • On the next page, you’ll see a button that says “Install Now”. Click it.

4. Configure WordPress Installation:

  • Choose the domain: Select the domain where you want to install WordPress.
  • Directory (optional): If you want to install WordPress in a subfolder (e.g., yourdomain.com/blog), type the folder name here. If you want to install WordPress on the root domain, leave it blank.
  • Site Name: Enter the name of your website.
  • Site Description: Provide a brief description of your site (e.g., “Personal Blog”).
  • Admin Username: Create a strong admin username.
  • Admin Password: Choose a secure password for your WordPress admin.
  • Admin Email: Provide your email address (it will be used for WordPress admin notifications).

Optionally, you can also choose to install plugins or themes.

5. Choose Installation Settings (optional):

  • Language: Select the language for your WordPress site.
  • Select Plugins or Themes: If you have any pre-installed plugins or themes you want to use, you can select them here.

Leave the default settings unless you have specific preferences.

6. Complete the Installation:

  • After filling in all necessary fields, click the “Install” button.
  • The installation process will start, and after a few minutes, WordPress will be installed.

7. Access Your WordPress Site:

  • Once the installation is finished, you will see a success message with your WordPress login URL, usually something like http://yourdomain.com/wp-admin.
  • Click on the provided link or manually go to the login page (yourdomain.com/wp-admin).
  • Log in with the admin username and password you created.

8. Start Customizing:

  • Now that you’re logged in to WordPress, you can start customizing your site, adding themes, installing plugins, and creating content.

Troubleshooting:

  • If you don’t see WordPress in Softaculous, check with your hosting provider to ensure that it’s installed or available in your cPanel.
  • If you prefer a manual installation, you can download WordPress from the official website, upload it to your server via cPanel File Manager, and follow the installation steps directly.
